To good Art and good Food
April 16, 2012
Well, I quite like design and I LOVE food, anyone else who does will appreciate these.
The Forest Feast is a blog by Ex New Yorker Eric Gleeson, proving that the simplest ideas are often the best. Illustrating her naturalistic recipes with painted hand type in joyful colours over nicely composed photography, it’s quite lovely to behold.
And this list of sandwich designs posted today on Flavourwire has some edible design treats, although I have to say, not all of them are winners…
There has never been a combo of design and food more delicious than Emily De Griottes Pantone treats, yum yum.
Also, I can’t believe I forgot Shay Aaron’s miniature
Snuggly.

I LOVE SPACE!
March 1, 2012
Here are a couple of sample illustrations for my YCN awards 2012 this year: A space-themed picnic for M&S! The top illustration is a concept drawing, the below is a rough drawing of a couple of products from my sketchbook. The picnic is entirely space themed (The bottle says martian river water and apple juice- made from real earth apples!), with the menu all in this vein. It also features some walkie-taklies (For space talk) and after you can pull down the cardboard wings and turn the basket into a playable spacecraft. Its for anyone who loves space, or cool bright food.

‘No good food to be wasted’
February 18, 2012
This illustration was for our spring 2011 project Persuasion. We had to pick an organisation that had issues that could be solved using Graphic Design, and I chose Fareshare , a UK based charity that takes “surplus ‘fit for purpose’ product from the food and drink industry – to organisations working with disadvantaged people in the community “, as well as training and educating people about food nutrition and wastage.
They are always looking for volunteers, and have centres all over the UK for anyone who is interested in helping the charity. This was what I was going to promote but I could never get the final design just the way I wanted it, even after alot of re-jigging! but I was pleased with the illustration.
I wanted to communicate how Fareshare is a charity that works with food and show it’s positive message by avoiding the colour black completely and kept the illustration upbeat and colourful. My starting point was just running round different coloured chalks (chalks are so good for colour! ) in a grid, then I sketched in objects in purple fineliner over the top.
The charity is just such a good idea! I already know quite a few skip raiders but had never heard of a company that did it legally before Fareshare.
So beautiful!

Yeah, forget the food, eat the delicious packaging!
This lovely work for Crabtree & Evelyn was a collaboration between Ruth Pearson and Caroline Phillips of Smith & Milton.
